Feb 1: Clay stood up in his crib for the first time! I think he'd stood up during nap time because I heard a horrible thud and had a crying baby (the sound was so awful that this event prompted us to get a video monitor) but he calmed down, took a nap and then this is the sweet face I saw when he woke up from nap! BIG BOY!!! Because of the snow we wore pjs ALL day!
 |
| Around this time, he started falling asleep sitting up and would eventually just topple over and sleep like a human pretzel. No worries, we moved him to a normal sleeping position after this pic! |
 |
| One of our go to activities for the Snow Days (we were snowed in Tuesday through Friday) was finger painting paper that was later turned into V-day cards. It was a GREAT way to pass the time because the painting took up 10-15 minutes and then he'd have to take a bath and so all in all it filled about an hour of time! |

At just over 10 months old, we decided to move Clay to the big boy tub!!! (read: the struggle to keep him safely in the baby tub - as in not flipping from his back to his tummy and then trying to reach out of the tub - made a once fun event anything but fun so the switch was made!)

The craziest day of snow was Friday! Jim went to work all days except Friday because we got a good 9-12 inches of snow on top of ice and there was no way to get traction on it so.... we had a day filled with hot chocolate (for Mommy and Daddy), lots of cuddles and playing in the snow. This is Clay when we first showed him the snow!

Dressed and ready for the snow!

Okay, so maybe he wasn't thrilled about being out in the snow. In all reality, I don't think it was the snow that bothered him, I think it was the crazy amount of layered clothes and the subsequent restriction of movement that ticked him off. He had on socks, footie pajamas, fleece lined jeans, a heavyweight fleece, a water resistant coat with a hood, a fleece hat, and gloves. I can't tell you how many times I kicked myself this winter for not buying him a snowsuit - since we're in Texas, I am guessing I will buy him a snowsuit every winter from here on out and he will not wear it a single time while in state - oh well!

Jim made a snow family - the baby snow person even had one of Clay's pacifiers and bibs (one the bibs that I gave Jim in the big reveal that to say that we were pregnant with Clay!)
 |
Our house with all the snow - I was so excited to see the front of the house that I just took off running in the snow (forgetting, of course the fact that there was no traction), so a good 60 seconds before I took this picture I busted BIG TIME it in front of my neighbor.

| Being trapped at our house for almost a week must have made Clay desperate to learn to walk because he started cruising (walking independently while holding onto furniture) on Saturday, February 6. The shirt is in honor of Cousin Joseph's 5th birthday. We had to miss his super cool Super Hero party because of the snow, but we were there in spirit! |
Okay, so that takes us just through the first week of February! We had much more fun so I'll post more on that later! Ciao! |
I love how much you love my daughter:) I love Clay so much too!
