A Continuation - February 2011: Ground Hog's Day

After almost one week of being home bound because of the snow, we were sooooo ready to get out of the house!  So we arranged a couple of big outings for Monday.  First stop:  IKEA up in Frisco with some of our neighborhood friends!  We have a sun room that had turned into a random catchall room that we wanted to re-purpose into Clay's official playroom so the purpose of this pilgrimage (aside from just getting out of the house) was to get some ideas for art displays as well as for toy organization.  The trip was definitely a success!  After IKEA, Clay and I stopped by the JCPenney home office to pick up a couple of friends (Ragan and Brichelle) for lunch.  I was thrilled to get to catch up with them and it meant so much that they were still able to make time for us on a Monday (typically this is the busiest day of the week in the buying world but they are in sourcing and design so it worked out well) AND they'd both just been working from home for the past week because of the crazy weather.  Lunch was great!

Tuesday, Clay and I hosted a V-day themed playgroup at our house!  It was your typical baby's playgroup (pull out toys and let the kiddos play) but I baked cookies for the kiddos to "decorate".  I knew from our experience at Christmas that kids that age would enjoy it and if parents weren't ready for their kids to play with/ingest that much sugar, at least the mommies could have a cookie or two.  It was a big success and Clay did great decorating this time around as well!

Clay's edible work of art!

The evidence of Clay's enjoyment is ALL over his left cheek!

The very next day had me questioning whether Ground Hog's day was the second day or the second week of February since we were once again ICED in!  It was also very reminiscent of the year before when I got iced in at our house when Jim was out of town and our house lost power over night - but luckily the only similarities were that it was the same week and there was ice!

My 29th birthday was that Saturday and it was my first birthday with Clay!  It was wonderful!!!  We went to the Museum of Science and Nature and played for a while.  Clay LOVED it!

Clay driving the super cool firetruck!  Gosh, it's kind of fun posting these so late - it makes me realize how much of a baby he was then as opposed to now!

Crawling all around the padded room!  He took a little bit of a tumble after this but he was okay!

My little cutie boy!

L-O-V-E him!

We took Daddy by Clay's art class room.

Checking out T-rex!

Once we were done at the museum, it was home for Clay's nap.  It seems that Clay wanted to impress me on my birthday by turning into a beaver of sorts.  We came in after his nap and discovered that he'd been chomping away on his crib rail.  :(  Guess he needed something to help him as his teeth came in a bit more.

We ended what was already a great day with dinner at Matt's Rancho Martinez in Lakewood.  My dad joined us and we marveled at how Clay dug into honeydew melon (it was his first time to have it).  After dinner we ran by Cheesecake factory where I picked up a piece of Linda's Fudge Cake - it was really great!  The perfect end to a great day and the perfect way to start off my last year in my TWENTIES!  Assuming I'm not pregnant on my 30th, we'll have a big blowout, my thought is a 80s throwback party at a roller skating rink!  :)  However, if I am pregnant, we may just have to celebrate my birthday with an un-birthday party a bit later (I have no NEWS to share and and don't plan on having any news to share for quite a while)  :)

  1. I hope we get to skate on your bday next year but I also hope you get knocked up. Hmmm, such a conflict of interest.
