WEEK 35

Hi!

As you know, week 35 is off to a surprising start! I got checked into the hospital yesterday for what we're hoping can be stretched out to 3 weeks of bed rest (I'm thinking of it as a 3 week sabbatical at a health spa). So far the stay has been good.

I have a private room with a couch that unfolds into a bed; this means that Jimbo gets to join Clay and me at "the spa" for lunch, evenings, and weekends (and whenever else I ask him to be here).

My first day started with different labs being run - I haven't heard anything about the results yet but I am assuming all is well since often times no news is good news. Then Clay and I got hooked up to a monitor so that (fittingly) they could monitor my contractions and his heart beat. They found that I was having contractions so I started medication that I will be on for the next several weeks as we try to stave off labor. Each time I've been hooked up to the monitor over the last 24 hours (3 times so far), Clay has looked very good so that is fantastic! The medicine that I am on is in pill form and I take it every 6 hours. It seems to be working, which is great, but one of the side effects is really bad headaches. This means that I am less than great company. The good news is that my body should get used to the medication within in the next couple of days and the headaches SHOULD go away. I am definitely looking forward to that because that should translate into me getting more than 4 hours of sleep AND means that I'll eventually be game to cash in rain checks for everyone who has so kindly offered to keep me company.

Until then, I've got pretty decent TV channels, a collection of DVDs, books, magazines, and puzzle books to keep me occupied. Oh - and the "spa" has WIFI so I can work on a few "Clayby" (that's short for Baby Clay) projects.

I hope all is well and again want to thank everyone for their continued prayers!

Much love,
Erin
