VIVA LAS VEGAS

With less than three months to the anticipated arrival of our sweet baby boy, Clay, Jim and I decided to take one last pre-baby trip! So this past weekend we headed out to Las Vegas for our "babymoon"!! We've each been there before (Jim when he was 14 and me for Melissa's bachelorette party 2 years ago) but it was our first time to go together. It was wonderful!

We've taken a lot of great trips together - especially over the last year - but this was our first trip JUST the two of us in almost 1 1/2 years. We got into Vegas Friday night and had a wonderful Mexican dinner and toured our hotel (Priceline sent us to The Luxor). Saturday morning was filled with lots of activities: we visited New York, New York, MGM (saw the baby lions in at the lion habitat), and Mandolay Bay (where we had lunch at the House of Blues).

Jim scheduled a Mommy-to-Be massage for me and it was absolutely fabulous! While I was being pampered, Jim tried his hand at the Casino tables and won (and then lost his winnings). That evening we tried out a Brazilian Steak House and then went to The Mirage to catch the Beatles Love Show. It was AMAZING! The music was of course great but the things that the Cirque du Soliel people do are just mind blowing; I highly recommend seeing the show if you have the opportunity. It's kind of like being an active participant in a very surreal dream; you can't help but watch in childlike wonderment! The loud music (or rather the tracks of Beatles Fans screaming) certainly got a rise out of Clay - he kicked in a frantic way - poor baby!

Sunday was a more low key day. We, of course, had to hit up a Vegas style buffet. We also did a tour of the Titanic Exhibition that was in our hotel. It had artifacts that had been recovered from the wreckage, the largest piece of the Titanic ever recovered, as well as a replica of the grand staircase. It was definitely a moving experience. After that, Jim tested his luck again at the tables (and came out ahead!) while I rested and then we struck out for another afternoon on the town. We again went to the lion habitat and saw the BIG cats at MGM and visited a few more sites along the strip.

I am so glad that we made a point of taking this last pre-baby trip together! We created great memories and just really enjoyed being with one another. That being said, now we're looking forward to our first trip with Clay!
