Year End Wrap Up - Part DEUX!

Ooo la la!  It's only January and we're "already" moving on to what all November held for the fam?  I know, I'm bad but I think you'll see that the Morgans (uber cool peeps that we are) were in high demand this holiday season which meant blogging kind of (definitely) took a back seat.

Okay, so let's go to Thanksgiving-ish time.  The end of November was B-I-G in terms of firsts and development for Clay.

Numero Uno:
At just over a week shy of his 8 month b-day, Clay crawled for the first time!  Which, of course, was special for a number of reasons.  First, when he crawled, he crawled toward a Baby Einstein piano that Yaya (my mom) sent him for his 6 month birthday.  (Which reminds me, it's about time for my 28 years, 11 month and 1 week present - J/K!)  I love that he loves that toy so much and hope that it means that he'll appreciate music (we're big on music in this family - his great grandma had her Masters in Music Education and my mom was at one point a Music Therapy Major and I was a Choir Geek; beyond that his other great grandmas, Granny, and Daddy are all pretty musically inclined as well!)  Yet another reason that his crawling was special (and yes, maybe this one is a bit ridiculous) but he definitely crawled in the direction of my BFF's, Rachel, house - both she and I know it's because he loves her so much and missed her oodles!!!  Oh and it's also significant because.... HE CRAWLED - it was and continues to be an army crawl but boy, howdy can that baby haul

I know his eyes aren't open, but can't you tell how please Clay is with himself after crawling for the first time?  Not only that but please make note of the Hershey cat in the background.  For some strange reason, he doesn't look nearly as excited about the fact that this small human is now mobile....
Numero Dos:
Clay had his first family movie night.  He didn't really "watch" every second of the movie (and no, we're not going to encourage Clay to stare at a tv for two hours) BUT we did make the concious decision to watch Toy Story 3 as a family.  Clay watched bits and pieces (and technically, I guess we only watched bits and pieces too since we were on the ground playing with him) but it was pure bliss to have family time together just hanging, playing, and watching Woody and Buzz!

Clay watches Toy Story 3 while crawling towards some of his favorite toys!

Numero Tres:
Clay waved for the first time!  Clay and I were in the check out lane at Hobby Lobby (oh and he sat in the shopping cart for the first time; wow, shopping instantly became harder with that development); he was a bit wobbly in the shopping cart so I decided to just hold him and all of the sudden I heard the lady behind me say, "Well hello to YOU, cutie!" and when I turned to see what was going on with my child and this friendly stranger, realized that he was waving at her.  I then shared with her that it was his first time waving and then we both proceeded to ooo and awww all over my little boy genius.

I guess he figured he was big enough to ride in a shopping cart, he was a grown up enough to wave at people!
Number Quatro:
On the SAME day that Clay waved for the first time (exactly one week shy of his 8 month birthday), we met some friends from our playgroup at the playground at Flag Pole Hill (wait for it, that wasn't quite the milestone moment).  After "visiting" with the other babies (read: moms trying to have adult conversation while clamouring after the little ones) we tried out the swings and Clay got to swing in a playground swing for the first time.  [Note to future children:  I apologize in advance if/when I don't document EVERY little first with you like I have with Clay.  On the flip side, that probably means that in addition to being much busier with you I also became - hopefully - a little less neurotic so that's a pretty good trade!]  Clay LOVED the swing!

Clay's first time in a park swing; I am not sure why he had to wait for almost 8 months for this experience but juding by the smile on his face, Clay thought it was well worth the wait!
Numero Cinco:
Clay began a 9 week travel fest which once again proved that we are soooo fortunate to have such an easy going baby. We asked him to travel so very much and adjust his schedule on a weekly basis. He was such a trooper and we can't thank him enough for letting us have such a special (and busy) holiday season - we promise to rest much more and be a bit more homebody-ish in 2011! But, we'll save the start of the travel stint for the next post. Ciao!
