Our Eggo is Preggo!

That's right, we're having a baby! Before I get too far down the road I'll tell you what happened (not the health class version, just how we found out). Well, one Sunday several months ago, Jim and I planned to work on painting some art for our house. Since we'd been trying to get pregnant, I thought I should take a quick test just to be sure I was in the clear to work with paint. Three minutes later, I found out I was pregnant!!! Woo Hoo!!! I was beyond ecstatic and couldn't wait to share the news with the daddy-to-be! Just to be clear, long ago - before we started really talking kids, I got permission from Jim to take pregnancy tests without him. My reasoning was that he had put such thought and creativity into proposing to me that I wanted to do something similar for him when I found out that we were going to have a baby.

Anywho, when I took the test, Jim was off getting breakfast and by the time he got home, I had news that was sure to change our world and breakfast no longer seemed important. So once he got home, I told him I needed to rush out for a few last minute painting supplies. About thirty minutes later, I returned home with a card (and a bib set - my first choice of the cute little swing you hang from the tree was not available at any stores near us...) in hand.

I gave Jim the card (a Father's Day card I had bought 2 months earlier for just such an occasion) and waited for his reaction. Well, it definitely caught him off guard - since our wedding anniversary was just days away, he was apparently reading the card while thinking, 'Today's not the 13th right, I still have a few more days, right...." When he got to the end of the card, he exclaimed "What!?!" and that's when I got to share the great news that yes, we were in fact having a baby and that by my calculations, our little darling would be here by mid-April! Then I gave him a set of bibs (the top one said 'I HEART DADDY"). Needless to say, the rest of the day was filled with tears of joy, laughter, and hugs!

Since my mom was coming in town just a few weeks later, we decided to keep the news to ourselves for the time being. This meant that we could have a few precious weeks with our awesome secret and we could carry out our plan of creatively sharing the news with our parents.

Our idea for sharing the news was to order custom printed onesies that told each grandparent that they were going to be a grandparent! For example, Jim's dad's onesie said 'Poppa's Pumpkin". So we enjoyed our secret and the grandparents (and great-grandparents) enjoyed receiving the news! So that's the story of our eggo being preggo!
